Sony introduce Xperia Pro handset with a difference

Following on from yesterday’s news that Sony could reintroduce a Compact Xperia handset, Sony is also looking out for professionals. Introducing the Sony Xperia Pro with a hefty price tag of $2500 it is certainly aimed at professional users rather than the average smartphone owner.

Essentially the Sony Xperia Pro is a slightly beefed up Xperia 1 II. It features the same older Snapdragon 865 processor found in the February 2020 Xperia 1 II. Specs also include 12GB RAM, 512GB storage and three 12 megapixel cameras on the rear.

Where the Sony Xperia Pro comes into its own though is the inclusion of four mmWave 5G antennas. This means professional users can stream live events without connection issues. In theory anyway. It’s been noted that mmWave 5G is difficult to find and is mostly found in metropolitan areas. It also features an HDMI port allowing owners to connect the phone to Sony cameras and use it as a display. Sony is aiming this at news broadcasters and professional photographers.
