Samsung to announce Galaxy Note 3 at IFA in September? Four variants possible

As we near closer to the IFA and nearer to the one year anniversary of the Note 2 announcement, more and more rumors are flying around regarding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note handset, the currently unannounced Samsung Galaxy Note 3. There have been numerous rumors surrounding the screen size of the Note 2’s successor however, reports seem to have settled on the Note 3 sporting a 5.7″ display. This is also probably the most possible as Samsung previously increased the screen size by 0.2″ from the original Note, which sported a 5.3″ display, to the Note 2 which features a 5.5″ display.

IFA 2013 will run September 6 to 11th in Berlin, with press events being held before hand. Rumors are rife that Samsung will announce the handset during their press event in the days ahead of the actual IFA conference. Not only that but, the Note 3 is rumored to go on sale as early as September 4th.

Along with announcement and release rumors, there’s speculation that Samsung could release the Note 3 in four different variants. It wouldn’t be the first time the Korean manufacturer has released more than one variant of the same handset. Samsung for example released the S3 with a quad core processor internationally, while the US market version featured a dual core processor among other changes.

With the Note 3 if rumors are correct, Samsung will effectively be offering consumers a high end Note 3, along with a budget version as well as two mid range versions. The high end Note 3 is said to feature a 13 megapixel camera, high quality build materials and an unbreakable AMOLED display. The second model down will offer a regular AMOLED screen instead and instead of high quality materials, will offer a plastic design. Similarly the third and fourth variants will also feature the same plastic design. In the third model the change is instead of featuring an AMOLED display, Samsung will put an LCD display in it. While the fourth model, like the third will feature an LCD display, the camera will be downgraded to 8 megapixels.

Other specifications, such as the 5.7″ screen size and processor are expected to be the same across all variants. It’s rumored that the Note 3 will feature a Snapdragon 800 or Exynos 5 Octa processor, along with 3GB of RAM.
