O2 UK to offer 4G from August 29th

Currently the only UK network that offers 4G speeds is Everything Everywhere and EE have been offering the service for a little while now and as such they could pretty much charge anything they wanted for it as there is no competition in the UK. That’s set to change however by the end of the month as O2 will be rolling out their 4G service on August 29th. Initially 4G will only be available in London, Bradford and Leeds. By the end of the year however, O2’s 4G service will be available in 12 cities. Following on from London, Leeds and Bradford, 4G will at some point this year also be available in Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Liverpool, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, Sheffield, Manchester and Edinburgh with other cities to follow next year. More details about when the 4G service will be live from O2 in the above cities should be available in the coming weeks.

Tariffs will start at £26 a month and all customers will receive 12 months free music content. They will also be offering a 30 day “Happiness Guarantee” to make sure you’re completely satisfied with the 4G service. For those who already have a 4G capable phone, O2 UK will be offering free 4G sim cards which can be picked up in store as part of their “#O24G” social media campaign.
